Happy Spring Equinox!

Last week was the official spring equinox, & like clockwork, my body, mind, heart, & spirit told me: NOW it’s time to celebrate the beginning of a new year!
I am letting my intentions, goals, and resolutions come to me slowly through my intuition, rather than feeling like I have to force myself to manufacture and set anything to satisfy my ego.
In the past, I often felt compelled to set some sort of goal like:
- Do yoga every morning
- Workout 3x a week for one month
- Make and stick to a running & strength training hybrid program
All of which felt like they were coming from a place of “wanting to be healthy” or “building consistency.”
None of which I could follow through on.
Therefore, I always felt like I was a failure at being healthy, and just reinforced my belief that I was somehow inherently inconsistent and unable to do what I said I was going to do.
So I felt terrible about myself.
How could I want something so badly, yet be so unable to do it for myself?!
General self-help knowledge told me it must be because “I thought I didn’t deserve it,” or “I was afraid of failure &/or success,” or–worst of all–”I didn’t have enough self-respect.”
For years I tried to understand what they meant by all of that. I assumed it must be true because SO MANY people said it, but I just wasn’t smart enough to really get what they meant. Somehow, NOT sticking to my SMART Goals was proof I had low self-respect…
But here’s the thing: I don’t have low self-respect. I never have. Quite frankly, I very seriously doubt that I ever will.
In creating Intuitive Fitness, I knew that this exact issue was the central question for how I would operate as a coach and personal trainer, which is why I have spent years researching, practicing, implementing, and improving on my answer as to why we can want to achieve our goals so badly, yet be so unable to follow through on our action plans.
And I have found 2 major reasons:
- SMART Goals are dumb, and not only exacerbate, but create whole new problems.
- Thoughts & emotions create our actions, so if we aren’t well-resourced to deal with those, we can’t take the actions we want.
So, if this Spring Equinox is also calling to you to be a fresh start, I’d love to share my FREE Intuitive Goal Setting Guide with you, so you can get it started on the right foot!
Intuitive Goal Setting | Get itHere! |
This 4 part audio guide (with transcript) covers BOTH dealing with our thoughts & emotions (which creates our actions) as well as an alternative to SMART Goals.
Hope this helps so you can set goals you can feel good about, no matter the outcome!
I would LOVE to hear any goals you have, or if you’d like any coaching on how to set your goal in an Intuitive Fitness-way that comes from a place of worthiness.
Let me know what you come up with!!! |
