The KEY to candy cravings…

Happy Halloween! (My fave holiday, btw)

Whether you have a lil trick-or-treater in your home, or if you’re a day-after-clearance-candy buyer, this is the beginning of a very treat heavy time of year–tricks optional.

As someone who formerly identified as a sugar addict 👋, this was a stressful time for me:

  • Having candy everywhere
  • Trying to decide if I should buy some for myself
  • Not wanting to keep it in the house
  • Yet feeling like I wasn’t supposed to want it
  • But desperately wanting it
  • While feeling like a failure if I couldn’t control myself
  • Yet not wanting to be seen eating too much of it
  • So secretly eating it in private
  • Then feeling bad about all of the above (and then some)

Sound familiar?

As an Intuitive Eating coach (which inspired my creation of Intuitive Movement), the most powerful lesson I learned–and fully know in my bones now–is that mental restriction is what creates the feelings of addiction.

It didn’t matter whether I brought the candy into my house or not.

As long as I felt like I wasn’t supposed to have or want it, I was only fueling the desperate tug-of-war with Halloween candy.

Now?

I literally couldn’t care less about Halloween candy.

If it’s there and I want it, I eat it.

If it’s there and I don’t want it, I don’t eat it.

No stress, no worry, no debate, no internal struggle.
