Starring: Multiple Versions of Deanna

“Every Goddamn Day”

Deanna: current, adult human, age 35 (or 36? I can’t remember), real person

Toddler Deanna: a voice inside of Deanna that is very demanding and ends up making a lot of Deanna’s decisions 

Blue Fairy Deanna: from Pinocchio, ever patient, ever understanding, ever kind, also a voice inside of Deanna

—–

Lights up on: Deanna at her yoga mat. It’s morning. Not even early, like 9am. She contemplates whether or not to sit down on her seat of folded blankets.

Toddler Deanna: “UUUUGGGHHHHHH. I don’t wanna do thisssssssss.”

Deanna makes a pouty face and stomps her feet a little bit.

Blue Fairy Deanna: “Okay you don’t want to. What is it exactly that you don’t want to do?”

TD: “I don’t want to be hot and sweaty!”

BFD: “Okay, so what if you did it, but gently enough that you don’t get hot and sweaty?”

TD: “Mmmm… I guess that sounds okay…”

Deanna sits. She begins to stretch, doing seated cat/cow and spinal twists.

TD: (cont) “Oh yeah, this is not so bad. I think I like it.”

BFD: “Oh, good. I’m so glad you could find a way that fits for you right now.”

Deanna’s muscles start to warm up, she can feel blood flowing to her limbs, things are getting tingly.

TD: “In fact, I’m liking the warmth I can feel building in my body now. It’s not too much. Just easing into my day. I think I’m going to keep going.”

BFD: “Wonderful! Any chance you’ll remember this for tomorrow morn–”

TD: “Not a chance in hell.”

BFD: “Didn’t think so. That’s quite alright. I’ll be here either way.”

Lights out.
