Those petty ones canât f^ck with meâŠ
Yeeâand I canât stress this enoughâ Haw

Now Deanna, I know you didnât think Iâd let Beyonceâs latest album release pass by un-noted, did you?!
Beyond just trying to wrap my head around the glorious, genius, incomparable, brilliant, deeply woven, poetic, sweeping epic, magnum opus that is COWBOY CARTERâŠ
And beside the fact that it is quite literally an American History 302 Level college course in musical formâŠ
Of course, I also see & hear all of the ways in which she reflects back lessons that apply to my life (& maybe yours too?), because how you do one thing is how you do everythingâŠ
- There is a season for everything
Hello, seasons & cycles, much?!Â
Knowing when to push, when to be structured, when to face hard realities absolutely has a time & a place. And itâs not necessarily right now.Â
Are you envisioning yourself in the weight room smashing PRâs? Amazing!
But first, you gotta make sure youâve got the fundamentals on lock down. Know your way around a weight room? Are your joints & ligaments prepared to start lifting heavy? If not, start with step one, do the work, & trust the timing.
- There are no rules.
Are there classes, experts, gurus, and salesmen who claim there are rules (for making music, moving your body, getting healthy, or anything else)?
Absolutely.Â
Does it seem like they might have a good point?Â
Absolutely.Â
Are they still wrong?Â
Absolutely.Â
What works for you is the only thing that matters. And sometimes that means inventing an entirely new genre of health & fitness just for yourself!
- If the other people in the culture are making it toxic, take whatâs important to you & fuck them.
News flash: Travis Tritt didnât invent country music, Jillian Michaels didnât invent exercise, and Gwyneth Paltrow didnât invent healthy lifestyles.Â
In fact, they are ruining their respective fields because of their presence in them.Â
That doesnât mean country music, exercise, or health goals are the problem! Donât let the haters gate keep you from things that are absolutely meant for everyone.
- Great things take time & will challenge you.
Urgency is a myth. Itâs a product of capitalistic, white supremacy culture, and itâs keeping you stuck on a hamster wheel of not good enough-ness.
Everything worth working for is worth it, no matter how long it takes.
Because it takes time to let your growth really seep into your bones.Â
When you do the work of changing (whether itâs healing your relationship to your body or creating a magnum opus), youâre quite literally recreating yourself on a cellular level, from the inside out. And that shit takes time, bitch!Â
Embrace it, because itâll be better, deeper, & more all-encompassing than a rush-job.
But hereâs my favorite lesson from Beyonce, always & forever:
You donât have to BE Beyonce to embody her messages.
If you think, âSure, itâs easy for her to do all these things, trust the timing of her seasons, break all the rules, flip haters the bird, take her time, and challenge herself⊠but it doesnât work like that for me!â
THAT is exactly why you need a coach on your side.
Can you do everything that Bey does?Â
No.Â
(Opera in the middle of a country trope woman-scorned retribution song?! We could never!)
But can you be like Bey & live your life from a place of your bare feet solidly planted within your own power?!
Abso-fucking-lutely.
Everytime I listen to any of Beyonceâs music, I donât hear her singing about how much better she is than me/everyone else. I hear her singing about how powerful we could ALL be if only we owned it for ourselves.Â
She didnât take her power from anyone else.
She didnât even make it.
She was born with it, always.
Just like you & me.
Itâs just a matter of stepping into your own power and owning it.
So, I hope you listen to COWBOY CARTER and decide youâre ready to learn how to wield your power as masterfully as Bey wields hers.
Much like COWBOY CARTER, I like to think of Intuitive Fitness as an entirely new, yet pure & real, bent & blended genre of health & fitness.
