It’s almost like… it’s not a you problem.
In fact, it’s almost like it’s not a problem at all!

Have you ever been driving in the middle of nowhere before Google Maps? (I’m from the flyover states. That’s almost exclusively where I’ve driven.)
You’re lost, so you ask a local how to find your destination, & they give you directions that sound a lot like,
“Go up this road for a good long while until you see a stack of crates on your left. You’re going to think you passed your turn, but you didn’t. Just keep going, and you can’t miss it!”
That’s a lot like what “falling off track” is.Â
You think you missed your chance to stay consistent, BUT YOU DIDN’T.
Missing or skipping some workouts is PART OF THE PATH.
Do NOT turn around and go back to that guy on his porch. Just keep going!
So I’m here to reassure you that just because you have missed your movement practice does NOT mean you’re lost!!!
YOU ARE RIGHT ON COURSE!
THIS IS PART OF JOURNEY!
Instead of feeling like a failure for being “imperfect,” can you see it as following the directions I’m giving you for how to get to a place of imperfect consistency–aka literally the only type of consistency that exists.
Don’t misinterpret the directions:
You’re not lost on the path to fitness; you have just recognized one of the trail markers I told you about, which means you’re right on track!
